The carpenter's axe's thin, long and straight blade is ground to be razor sharp. The head is shaped to support the hand over the blade when making carvings. Axe's head is hand-forged and made from Swedish axe steel using traditional methods in use since 1697. The steel is stuck several times, increasing its density and thereby the durability of the axe. There's a clear tempered zone within which the axe can be sharpened whilst not detracting from the strength of the edge. The axe is supplied with a blade cover, (Art No. 840735), which can be purchased as an accessory. The shaft is made from hickory.
